Tehran, Muscat Stress Expansion of Economic, Banking Ties


During the meeting between the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) and the Foreign Minister of Oman, the development of economic and banking relations between the two countries was emphasized. In this meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi and CBI Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati, the development of economic and banking relations between the two countries was emphasized by both sides. The Omani FM, while pointing to the importance of Iran's role and position in the region, considered the expansion of trade and economic relations between the two countries important.

Hemmati arrived in Muscat on Tuesday for a two-day visit aimed at strengthening trade and banking relations between the two countries, given the new international condition.

Iran’s CBI Governor also told Oman’s Minister of Commerce and Industry and Investment Promotion Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef in a later meeting that private companies from Iran and Oman could play a major role in expanding economic ties between the two countries.  Hemmati called for the activation of the private sector in Iran and Oman to improve the level and volume of trade between the two countries Oman's Minister of Industry and Trade for his part welcomed the suggestions of the head of Iran's Central Bank and his accompanying delegation and stressed that Muscat makes efforts to establish and expand trade ties with Iran.  The two sides also discussed the ways to use the strategies and tools needed to expand trade and banking cooperation. - ICANA, Mehr, Iran Press, Tehran Times
