Fire at Iranian Petchem Plant Contained

The managing director of the Kharg Petrochemical Company informed of complete control of fire in the complex, saying: "Unfortunately, two of the employees lost his life in this accident."

Gholamreza Amirshaghaghi told Shana reporter about the incident this evening (Thursday, November 19) in Kharg Petrochemical Complex: “The liquefied natural gas (LPG) unit of Kharg Petrochemical plant caught fire around 5:00 PM today which was contained after about 15 minutes.”

He attributed the fire to depleted hydrocarbons during major repairs to the LPG unit, adding: "Unfortunately, 2 employees died in the accident and two suffered superficial burns."

The managing director of the Kharg Petrochemical Company stated that the LPG unit had become non-operational on Wednesday (November 18) for major repairs, adding: "Currently, the operational processes of the plant are continuing normally and the methanol unit is fully operational." - Shana
