The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) has approved the allocation of US$500,000 to Iran to combat COVID-19 pandemic, Iranian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna Kazem Gharibabadi. The fund will be delivered to Iran by the World Health Organization (WHO) for the purchase and distribution of medical equipment, he added.The OPEC Fund has delivered assistance to the World Health Organization to purchase medical equipment needed to contain the disease in Iran.It is noteworthy that the Organization for Investment Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran has coordinated to receive cash and non-cash assistance from the OPEC Fund through the World Development, the World Bank (WB), the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). This contribution was made to support national efforts to combat the coronavirus, and OFID has earlier provided similar urgent assistance to the country in the advent of the flood last year. - Shana, Tehran Times
