Iranian Petchem Plant to Hit Record High Chlorine Output

The Managing Director of the Arvand Petrochemical Company said his company had planned to launch a project which would enhance its chlorine output to a record high. According to the company, Hassan Neshanzadeh Moghaddam said the project would add 8% to the plant’s chlorine production capacity in March. The annual production capacity of chlorine is 585,000 tons, he pointed out.

The company has the annual capacity to supply 1.8 million tons of caustic, ethylene dichloride (EDC), vinylchloride monomer (VCM), and a variety of PVC grades, he said. Since 21 March 2019, the company has realized 104% of its production plan, Moghadam said. He further said increase in chlorine output at the company means increase in petrochemical production by other companies in the country.

Arvand Petrochemical Plant is the largest producer of chlorine in Iran. It supplies feedstock for several other petrochemical plants including Bandar Imam, Ghadir, Karoun, and Khuzestan. - Shana
