Egypt Invests in Upgrading Transmission Networks Since 2015


Egypt has invested a total of EGP 68 billion (US$4.3 billion) in upgrading electricity transmission networks since 2015, minister of electricity Mohamed Shaker said. The upgrade includes adding, replacing, and renovating overhead power lines and high-and extra-high-voltage substations, Shaker added in a statement. The cost of the electricity transmission network development plan is expected to reach EGP 76 billion (US$4.8 billion) by the end of 2020, he noted.
