Call on Qatari Businessmen to Invest in Bangladesh

Qatari businessmen have been urged to pour investments in Bangladesh during a meeting held on 29 Janury 2020 between a trade delegation from the South Asian country and officials of Qatar Chamber. Qatar Chamber second vice chairman Rashid bin Hamad al-Athba, who received the delegation led by Bangladesh’s State Minister of Foreign Relations, Shahriar Alam, who was accompanied by Bangladeshi ambassador Ashud Ahmed, said Qatar-Bangladesh trade relations “had greatly developed within the past few years.” The meeting reviewed both countries’ economic and commercial ties. Al-Athba pointed out that the Qatari business community is interested to explore Bangladesh’s investment opportunities.

Qatar Chamber supported the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ exhibition, which concluded on 30 January 2020 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC). The three-day expo was inaugurated Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Sultan al-Khater, Qatar Businessmen Association (QBA) chairman HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, and the Honourable Advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Salman F Rahman. Rahman invited Qatari investors to visit Bangladesh to learn about the investment opportunities available in various sectors, including its economic zones. He noted that plans are in the pipeline to establish 100 public and private economic zones. He also underscored Bangladesh’s rapid transformation, saying there is a multitude of investment opportunities in “many promising sectors,” such as garments and textiles, which are exported to Europe, Asia, and Africa.
