Consumer awareness-raising, notably by associations, must continue to avoid the behaviors of some citizens noticed recently, which are likely to speed up the propagation of Covid-19, Trade Minister Kamel Rezig said Saturday.Speaking at a national meeting with representatives of the civil society countrywide, Rezig urged leaders of associations to pool efforts and continue consumer awareness-raising to avoid the behaviors of citizens noticed recently in shops, which are likely to speed up the propagation of Covid-19.“We decided to reopen some shops because the pandemic was about to disappear. However, the behaviors of some customers noticed recently would contribute to prolong the health crisis. The more barrier measures are applied the less the epidemic will last,” explained the minister. “We relaxed lockdown measures when we noticed reassuring results in fighting the propagation of the virus,” recalled the minister. After denouncing the rush of citizens at some shops, often without distancing measures or wearing a medical mask, the minister urged further awareness-raising efforts to limit the period of this health crisis. “The representatives of civil society must play a leading role and use all possible communication means to raise the awareness of consumers of the need to comply with barrier measures,” stressed Rezig.According to the same official, awareness-raising aims at encouraging citizens to be more responsible and comply with prevention measures, notably for children and people aged more than 60 years who must not leave their homes unnecessarily.Other meetings will be organized with representatives of civil society throughout the 48 province of the country to encourage them to raise awareness among citizens of compliance with health prevention measures, announced the minister.
