Algeria’s annual inflation fell to 4.3 % in December from 4.5 % the previous month after dip in prices for some foodstuffs, official figures show. On a monthly basis, the consumer price index declined 1 % in December, according to the data released by the National Statistics Bureau. Prices for fruits and poultry fell 9.1 % and 11.6 % respectively, while the cost of manufactured goods rose 0.4 %. The North African country has been trying to boost domestic output and reduce imports in a bid to cope with financial pressure caused by lower energy earnings, the main source of state finances.
