Egypt will test production from its giant Zohr natural gas field in a few days, according to the Ministry of Petroleum. The ENI-operated project will begin pilot production before commercial output begins by the end of December.The gas produced from the will be pumped through the national distribution system to test pipelines in preparation for output from the offshore field Egypt’s Petroleum Minister Tarek El-Molla said in an emailed statement to Bloomberg.The field, once up and running, will produce at a rate of about 350 Mmcf/d. ENI will increase production gradually, with output rising to 1 Bscf/d by mid-2018 and reach 2.7 Bscf/d by the end of 2019, the Ministry said.
