Officials Discuss Iran-Oman Stronger Trade Ties

Authorities from Iran and Oman in a meeting in Muscat explored avenues for stronger trade links between the two neighbors. Heading an economic delegation, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi held a meeting with Oman’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidi in Muscat to discuss the ways for economic cooperation and mutual trade.

In the meeting, the Iranian diplomat called for closer interaction in development of ports, joint investment and increased exports.

The Omani minister, for his part, said the ground is prepared for raising trade exchange to the target levels, unveiling plans for detailed talks on the issue in the next session of Iran-Oman joint economic commission. Iran and Oman enjoy age-old and close ties and their relations have become even closer after the two sides' agreements to boost mutual cooperation specially on economic fields. - Tasnim
